The Impact of Global Sporting Events on Commercial Real Estate
Global sporting events like this provide more than just fun and games for the hosting cities. The influx of visitors has a significant impact on the markets’ commercial real estate, particularly when it comes to:
Investment opportunities
Intrastructure development
Mixed-use developments
Improvements to transportation, hospitality and entertainment facilities
Increased efforts for coordinated development across all property sectors to revitalize, revive, and reimagine neighborhoods near the stadiums.
Leveraging high demand and other incentives (such as tax advantage) to capitalize on investments
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was founded in 1904 by seven national associations: Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Originally, the Summer Olympics was the primary event for FIFA’s international competition. But in the 1920s, the game evolved and warranted its own tournament. The Men's World Cup was officially declared in 1928, and the first one was played in Uruguay in 1930. The first Women's World Cup was played in Italy in 1970. Since then, the tournament has been held every fourth year (except for the years surrounding WWII).

Incorporating new retail, hospitality, entertainment, and apartments, these projects aim to improve street-level activity and amenities for visitors to MBS and invite more residents to live in Downtown Atlanta.
